How to Clean Your Blinds

While your Hunter Douglas blinds are great at blocking out harmful UV rays, providing privacy, and saving energy, they’re also great at collecting dust, pet dander, and other dirt. But don’t let that stop you from investing in window treatments because all Hunter Douglas window treatments are designed for easy care.  In fact many of the shade fabrics are specifically treated to repeal dust and dirt and aluminum horizontal blinds are treated with Dust Shield™, an anti-static paint additive that inhibits dust build-up.

Most Hunter Douglas soft window treatments do not require frequent cleaning.  A light dusting or gentle vacuuming on a regular basis will keep them looking new for years.

A regular light dusting with a clean and dry microfiber rag will help maintain a like-new appearance.  For deeper cleaning, vacuum gently with the brush attachment of any vacuum cleaner.  Most products may be vacuumed using a vertical stroke; however, do not use a brush attachment with Luminette® Privacy Sheers.  You can also use compressed air or a hair-dryer (on the no-heat setting) to blow dust out of your blinds.

You can also have your blinds professionally Ultrasonic cleaned or Injection/extraction cleaning –  this type of cleaning injects a cleaning solution into the fabric and immediately extracts the dirty solution.  It is a very effective way to deep clean your window treatments. The service is typically performed in the home so there is no need to remove the window treatments. Products that can use this method include most soft, fabric-based Hunter Douglas products.

Our number one goal is to make sure you are thoroughly satisfied with our services and products we provide.  We carry Hunter Douglas exclusively because we believe in their product.  Hunter Douglas is always a step ahead when it comes to technology and window treatments and they are always looking for ways to make their products better.  We have to say that they aced the cleaning and maintenance part.
